Elmira, NY – October 6, 2024 – Rugglion Digital Marketing is excited to announce its involvement in a collaborative effort to bring new life to the former Horseheads Small Fry League. Executive Director Joseph Ruggiero will be joining the board alongside notable local leaders, including Mayor Dan Mandel, Mike Knapp of Tree Worx, LLC, and Chemung County NYS Democratic Committee Chair Willie Owens, among others. Together, this talented group will work to help brand and market the new league, ensuring a strong comeback for youth football in the area.
Joseph Ruggiero brings over a decade of marketing experience to the board, including four years in sports marketing. He has a lifelong passion for football, having played the sport for 21 years, starting from peewee leagues of Apalachin Youth Football League to Vestal Youth Football League all the way through high school at Binghamton High School. His standout performances earned him a scholarship to East Stroudsburg University, where he was a three-year starter for the Division 2 football team and achieved numerous accolades both in high school and college.
In addition to his marketing expertise, Ruggiero has two years of coaching experience as Assistant Head Coach with the Elmira Express Junior Varsity football program, where he helped turn a team from a winless 0-8 record to a successful 7-2 season. His leadership and dedication to youth sports make him an invaluable addition to the new league’s mission of providing local youth with the opportunity to grow both on and off the field.
The revitalization of the former Horseheads Small Fry League follows its unfortunate cancellation last season due to organizational difficulties. The new board is committed to rebranding and rebuilding the league to ensure it thrives for generations to come. “Our goal is to bring back the excitement and community spirit that youth football fosters, while ensuring sustainable growth and opportunities for young athletes in the region,” said Ruggiero.
